This policy explains what personal data the Taxi Bandhu app collects from drivers, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights. We wrote it in simple words. It follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Who we are
Taxi Bandhu is a network app for taxi drivers. It is run by [Company legal name], [Registered address] ("we", "us", "the operator"). For the DPDP Act, we are the Data Fiduciary for your personal data.
2. What data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the app.
| Type | What it is |
|---|---|
| Identity and contact | Your name and mobile number (used for OTP login). Your email address, from Google Sign-In (or Apple Sign-In on iPhone). |
| Vehicle | Vehicle make and model, registration number, vehicle type and number of seats. Insurance expiry date. |
| Documents | Documents you upload: RC copy, insurance copy and, if you choose, driving licence, permit or similar. |
| Profile photo | Optional. Only if you add one. |
| Location | Your live location, only while you are "Available". We store your last known location. See section 3. |
| Chats | Messages you send to and receive from other drivers. |
| Duties | Duties you post or accept. |
| Payments | Records of payments for paid duties. Payments are handled by Razorpay. We do not store your card or UPI details. |
| Device | Device information and a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging). |
| Security logs | IP address and app version. |
| Consent records | Which version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted, and whether you said yes or no to marketing. |
3. Your location
- We collect your live location only while you mark yourself "Available" in the app.
- On Android, the app shows a notification the whole time it is using your location in the background.
- We use it to show nearby drivers and to match duties near you.
- We store your last known location.
- When you switch off "Available", the app stops sending your location.
4. Why we use your data
- Account and login — to create your account and let you sign in with OTP.
- Driver verification — the operator checks your details and documents.
- Matching duties — to show and share duties with drivers nearby.
- Chat — to deliver messages between drivers.
- Safety and fraud prevention — to keep the network safe and stop misuse.
- Reminders — for example, insurance expiry reminders 30, 7 and 1 days before, and on the day it expires. These are service reminders. You get them even if you say no to marketing.
- Offers — only if you give separate marketing consent (see next section).
5. Offers and marketing consent
With your separate consent, the operator's team may contact you about offers, such as insurance renewal or related services. This is optional. Saying no does not affect your use of the app.
You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by contacting us (see section 14). Withdrawing does not affect anything done before.
6. Who we share data with
Other drivers on the network see the details needed to share duties and chat with you. We also use these service providers, who process data for us:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| DigitalOcean | Hosting (servers in Bengaluru, India) |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications |
| Razorpay | Payments for paid duties |
| SMS provider [SMS provider name] | Sending OTP SMS |
| ZeptoMail by Zoho | Sending email |
| OpenStreetMap / Nominatim and GeoNames | Place search data. Place searches may be looked up on Nominatim without your personal data. |
We may also share data when the law requires it, for example with a court or government authority.
7. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in India.
8. How long we keep data
- Chat messages — kept for a limited time set by the operator (about 90 days by default), then deleted automatically.
- Notifications and message delivery logs — 180 days.
- Audit and security logs — as long as the law requires.
- Payment and tax records — as long as the law requires (up to 8 years).
- Consent records — kept as proof of your consent.
- Everything else in your account — until you delete your account.
After you delete your account, the records we must keep are kept without your contact details.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Me → Delete account) or on our Delete account page.
We delete: your name, mobile number, email, profile, vehicles, documents and photo files, live and last location, devices and sessions, chats (the whole conversation, for both sides) and notifications. You are signed out on all devices straight away.
We keep, without your contact details: payment and tax records, audit logs and consent proof, as the law requires.
You cannot delete your account while you have an open duty (posted or assigned). Finish or cancel it first. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You can later sign up again with the same mobile number as a new account.
10. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access — ask for a summary of your personal data and how we use it.
- Correction — ask us to correct or update wrong or incomplete data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data (see section 9).
- Grievance redressal — complain to our Grievance Officer and get a response.
- Nominate — name another person to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act.
- Withdraw consent — for example, for marketing.
To use your rights, contact our Grievance Officer (see section 14). If you are not happy with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Security
We use reasonable security safeguards to protect your data, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If a personal data breach happens, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
12. Children
Taxi Bandhu is for adult professional drivers aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date and tell you in the app about important changes. Where needed, we will ask for your consent again.
